Our Company Profile
YANG LOW
has been examining eyes in Miri since the end of the second world war.
YANG LOW, a photographer and self-trained optician set up shop under
the name of YANG LOW & SONS in Miri in the 1940s. The present
proprietor, grandson, Mr. Y. K. Yang is the first to practice as an
optometrist. To date there are 2 ophthalmologist, 4 optometrists and 3
opticians, over the 3 generations.
From these
humble beginnings, Yang Low Ophthalmic Opticians remain as the longest
serving optometric practise in Miri.
Our Mission
Our mission is to be provide world class optometric needs for our
clients in Miri. We are committed to independent optometry and being
the best primary eye care provider in Malaysia. We strive to provide a
lifetime of healthy vision for you our client, providing you with the
highest quality professional services with the latest technology and
products. We strive to create a positive experience for all who come
into contact with our practice, thereby improving the quality of life
for our patients, professional team, and the community that we serve.
We pursue
international best practice and demonstrate the highest quality of
clinical care. We continually invest in new technology and pursue new
vision care procedures. Our optometrist regularly co-manage patients
with the patient's general practitioner and ophthalmologist.
Our Philisophy
In an era when optometry is tending to a retail-only focus, the
management has continued to emphasis the importance of clinical
knowledge and integrity in running our practice. After all, no health
issue is more important than your eyesight. It is our belief that
everyone, everywhere should be able to see life in its full richness,
detail and splendour.
Alongside
this vision of clinical excellence, we keep in step with fashion and
frame design to ensure that our range is at the cutting edge of
international design concepts. We believe quality eyewear should be
functional as well as aesthetically complementary to your face and
allow you to express your unique personality.
Clinical Excellence
In 2006, our principal Optometrist, Mr. Y. K. Yang received the first
National Optometrist of the Award, from the Malaysian Association of
Optometrist for his contributions to the development of optometry in
Malaysia. This signify a recognition for our passion in providing the
best possible clinical care utilising the most recent in optical
technologies.
While providing a wide range of personal eyewear, we also hold
exclusive rights to distribution of a number of well known brands and
having preferred supplier status with many other brands.
We provide
an extensive selection of spectacle frames and lenses, safety
spectacles, contact lenses, sunglasses, ocular prosthetics, low vision
aids and other vision associated accessory products. The ophthalmic
manufacturers recognizes our position and have given us exclusivity
for certain products for distribution in our region.
Community Involvement
We value being part of and contributing to local causes and
organisations. Mr.Y.K. Yang is heavily involved in a variety of clubs,
networks, associations and organisations, and realise the importance
of creative partnering between these groups and local business in
seeing Mirians continue to thrive.
Over the
years, Yang Low Ophthalmic Opticians has been involved with a wide
range of community events and organisations that reflect our personal
philosophy, involvements and values.

● Served as Council Member Malaysian Optical Council. Ministry of

● Served as Council Member National Council for the Blind Malaysia.
