Yang Low Studio pivoted to become a general merchant and was only officially registered as a company following the establishment of Sarawak and the federation of Malaysia in 1963. It was renamed as Yang Low & Sons but was still famously known in town as Yang Low Studios.
Yang Low started as a Day & Night photography studio by the current owner’s grandfather. It specialized in portraits and wedding photos and was known as Yang Low Studio.
The optical section of Yang Low started in 1970s after the current owner’s (YK Yang) father became a Dispensing Optician following training in London in 1973. He was the first to practice contact lenses in the 70’s.
